Microneedling Treatment in Vancouver Downtown
At Limelight Wellness ClinicWhat exactly is Microneedling?
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a procedure that involves small needles to produce invisible punctures within the skin. The body begins to go through its healing process to promote skin rejuvenation at the conclusion of these punctures being made. Our organic production of collagen and elastin decreases as we age, and when this takes place the visual signs of aging slowly appear and continues to progress unless a procedure is undertaken. Collagen and elastin are essential components to attaining, and then maintaining skin that is both youthful looking and smooth feeling. Long-term skin rejuvenation results are possible thanks to help from beneficial treatments such as microneedling provides.
The advantageous value of Microneedling
The great thing about this form of treatment is that there’s no application of heat involved and it’s all mechanical, so microneedling is safe and fine for use on all kinds of skin colours and skin types. As previously mentioned, collagen induction therapy is a natural way to produce more collagen and elastin to help turn back the time on the skin’s normal aging process. This treatment helps to treat all kinds of skin conditions including deep wrinkles, fine lines, sun damage, clogged pores, scarring, loose skin, skin discolouration, and other similar skin issues.

How does it work?
Micro-needling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a minimally-invasive procedure in which tiny, sterile needles pierce the skin, creating thousands of microscopic channels. This activates a healing response in the skin leading to the formation of fibroblasts (cells that make collagen), release of growth factors, and ultimately deposition of new collagen and elastin.
Results:
It depends on the condition of the skin; it is usually every three weeks. After a series of treatments, visible results are seen including: skin firmness, tightening, improvement in skin texture, and a reduction in wrinkles and scarring.
Is it painful?
Because the needles’ size are microscopic it only causes a pressure like sensation at the time of the procedure and it’s not painful.

Microneedling FAQ’s
Is there pain or discomfort involved with this treatment?
With assistance from numbing cream before a microneedling procedure, patients find the experience quite tolerable from a pain and discomfort perspective. As the infamous saying goes, “no pain, no gain,” but with this collagen induction therapy, there is lots of gain with very minimal pain.
How many treatment sessions are needed?
Every patient’s needs are unique, so the number of treatments needed is determined at the initial consultation. Our experienced collagen induction therapy technicians closely evaluate the skin, learn about what the patient wants to see for results, and then recommendations are made. Typically three to six treatments are needed unless there is severe sun damage, significant scarring, or deep wrinkles to deal with, then more treatments will likely be needed. Once the desired results are witnessed, then a patient only needs an annual treatment session to maintain those results.
How is a Microneedling treatments are performed?
What happens is a dermaroller is used to make small punctures within the skin – the body reads these small punctures as tiny wounds and sends fibroblasts to every affected area that received penetration. The body interprets these tiny wounds as a form of injury, and quickly starts to repair the damage which increases the levels of collagen and elastin – making the skin thicker to prevent future potential “injuries,” and this beautifully enhances the texture and appearance.
What to be aware of after a treatment is received?
It’s important to not wear any makeup for the rest of the day following a treatment to leave the punctures open. Also, a patient should relax at least a day or two after a procedure is done to avoid any kind of perspiration from being generated and to minimize the amount of blood flow to the face as it can cause unwanted irritations to occur.
